This INEA (National Institute of Angolan Roads) site is located in the major traffic road of Angola, at the road Luanda-Catete. This viaduct special foundations was performed by Bauer-Angola to the main contractor CR 20. The work takes 3 months. We performed 3841m of piles of 820mm diameter with the maximum depth of 28 m, part of the work was done with casing and another part with bentonite. Bauer-Angola used on site, a BG 15 and a BG 28 supported by Hitachi crane.
Requalification of the Mutu-Ya-Kevela Park – Luanda
Inserted in the rehabilitation policy of many areas of Luanda, it is being constructed an underground car park with a maximum of 6 levels. Bauer Angola executed the lateral support design and executed a diaphragm wall with 500 to 600 mm thickness, with 10,5 to 30 m depth, in a total of about 7.000 m2. It were also executed 420 temporary anchors, in a total of about 7.400 m. In parallel with the wall execution, insightful monitoring measures were implemented such as topographic targets, load cells and inclinometers.
Teatro Avenida - Luanda
For the Teatro Avenida project in Luanda, 230 foundation piles were driven down to a depth of 53 m below working platform in very tight conditions. The project also involved installing 5,800 m² of diaphragm wall over a length of 180 m and to a depth of 32 m, as well as 800 anchors.
Nova Vida - Luanda
BAUER Angola Lda is executing pile foundations for 32 buildings with 4 and/or 6 storeys each. The contract was awarded by the Angolan government. For each building between 172 and 262 BAUER ductile piles with a bearing capacity of 40 t was installed. A static load test confirmed an ultimate load of 110 t. Every week the pile foundation of one building was finished. With the MBG 12 we installed in total a length of 50,000 lin.m.
Residential and Business Block - Luanda
In the capital Luanda, Empreiteiros Casais Angola LDA is constructing a 16-storey residential and business block with three underground levels. Bauer constructed the 13.5 metre deep excavation pit out of two-layer tie-back anchoredtangent bored pile walls in 600 mm thickness.
Suspension Bridge Catumbela River
On the motorway linking the south of Angola with the capital Luanda, a new suspension bridge is being constructed over the Catumbela River, on foundations constructed with 140 piles in 1,180 mm diameter. Bauer Angola used two BG 22 units to drill down to a depth of 48 metres, with 4 metres of rock socketing.
Oil Tanks Atlantic port - Lobito
In Lobito, the country’s second largest Atlantic port, Bauer Angola deployed a BG 22 to execute the foundations for two oil tankson behalf of the Angolan company Lyon. The next phase of works is scheduled for 2011.
